Getting Your Back Fixed

Few things are more frustrating than dealing with a bad back. Unfortunately, I found myself in that situation a few months back after I sprained my back lifting my baby. It was absolutely debilitating, but I knew that I was going to have to live with it. I kept trying to clean my house, look after my kids, and handle my daily chores, but the pain just kept getting worse. Fortunately, a friend of mine recommended a great chiropractor that could help. He adjusted my back and things started to get better. This blog is all about the benefits of working with a professional.

3 Common Activities That May Cause Back Pain

Blog

Back pain is often a gradual process that comes as a result of small things of everyday life. Interestingly, some habits you develop over time eventually lead to such complications with your body. It could be the way you lift heavy things is what's causing you pain in your back, or even how you sit or sleep.

Assuming a poor posture for a lengthy period is no doubt a crucial factor in developing back pain. That's why you need to take a hard look at your daily habits and learn what you need to change. Ignoring them means you're risking a life of chronic back issues that will be much more difficult to correct. Here are some daily activities that might be the reason behind your back pain.

Watching Television

At first, it might seem harmless sitting on your couch all day watching TV. But it can cause you a great deal of pain if you're doing it regularly. Typically, you'd be slumped up on your couch for a long time, often in one position. This means your spine will be under constant strain because of your natural body positioning.

Therefore, you have to make sure not to remain in the same position for too long, or else you risk developing severe back problems. Try to engage in other activities that require you to move around the house, and save yourself some of that pain.

Sleeping

If you like sleeping on your stomach, you're likely to notice some discomfort, especially with your lower back, from the way your spine is positioned as you sleep. In this case, the unnatural positioning means there will be unbalanced pressure on your spine, resulting in pain in the lower back area over time. Your chiropractor will likely suggest you make it a habit to sleep on your back instead.

It could also be a good idea to include a pillow by placing it under the knees. If you can't help but sleep on your stomach, be sure to have a pad on the abdominal area. This way, your spine will assume its natural curved position, even as you sleep.

Traveling

It's common to want to travel during the holidays, as is the case with most people. Sometimes, you might even have to travel halfway across the country to see your family. You might have to pack a bag or two, which is sometimes a strenuous task, especially when loading them up in your car. Lifting these heavy bags places a massive amount of tension in your back, resulting in pain.

You'll likely assume an improper posture through the trip, causing a significant strain on your spinal cord. Fortunately, your chiropractor can help you with that by performing an adjustment procedure to ease the resulting symptoms.
